As of June 1, 2012 Sara and Mallary Photography will be known as Sara Ackermann Photography. We’ve changed our look, we’ve changed our name, but the quality, creativity, and personality of our work will never change.

After five years of teamwork, our beloved Mallary is headed back to school and Sara and Mallary Photography has now merged into Sara Ackermann Photography.

When Mallary and I started Sara and Mallary Photography five wedding seasons ago, neither of us ever would have imagined the joy we would find in our clients and the happiness we would find in working together. The past five years have been amazing and I am thoroughly looking forward to finishing the 2012 wedding season with Mallary snapping pictures right by my side.

But the next years of this company will also be filled with happiness and amazing moments for both Mal and I. I’m so excited to see my best friend succeed in school and I’m so proud of the direction Sara Ackermann Photography is moving. So please, take a peek at our new site and stick around to see where this adventure will take me. I am so excited for it and promise you a new era of pictures you won’t want to miss.

I adore Lindsey and Kyle. When my buddies from Kentucky asked me to photograph their wedding, I couldn’t wait. These two are amazing and I knew they’d throw a perfect wedding. Let me tell you, I was right. Their location, the dress, the horse-drawn carriage. Every detail was beautiful and every minute was a blast.

The only thing more stunning than Lindsey and Kyle’s wedding was the couple themselves. From the minute we arrived, Lindsey was all smiles. And when they exchanged their first glance, Kyle beamed when he saw his bride for the first time in the most incredible first glance we’ve ever experienced. Talk about a happy guy.

To my friends Lindsey and Kyle, congratulations and thank you so much for letting us join you for your wonderful day. Wishing you a lifetime of love and happiness.

Kathryn and Cody had a really beautiful wedding on a bright and sunny afternoon. The weather was great, the bride was beautiful, and together, Kathryn and Cody were happy in love. Their outdoor ceremony went off without a hitch as the sun beamed down on the happy couple.

Kathryn and Cody were such a joy to work with. They were so kind to us and willing to work through the heat to get some really beautiful shots. Thanks to the newlyweds and their families for letting us be a part of their special day.

Nancy and Justin had a beautiful Mavris wedding with a gorgeous reception, stunning bride, and perfect weather to top it all off. Their wedding was simply lovely.

I really had a great time with Nancy and Justin and especially enjoyed Nancy’s easy going spirit. Her excitement for photos and artistic vision allowed us to shoot in some really great locations and grab some really fun shots. I always love a bride willing to walk a bit, be experimental, and have fun for a great photo.

Big thanks to my friend Joe from Joetography for providing the photos of the groomsmen for this post. Always fun working with you!

And of course, thanks to Nancy and Justin for letting us be a part of their pretty day. You guys are awesome! Enjoy this sneak peek and swing back around in a few weeks to view their full wedding.

Past SMP bride, Jessica, was sweet enough to ask me to photograph some of her hair styles for her portfolio. Jess put together a great day of beautiful dresses, compliments of The Wedding Studio, stunning Emilliner hair accessories, and 5 pretty friends of hers to pose as our models. Thanks to Jess and the girls for a fun day. You guys rock! Also, big thanks to Mustard Seed Gardens for letting us use their barn for a few photos. Stunning venue, as always!

After 18 years of dating, Shannon and Mark tied the knot at the Indianapolis Zoo on a very memorable Cinco De Mayo Derby Day.
The pair filled their day with special moments and touches like Shannon’s dress – A custom made gown from pieces of her mother’s own wedding dress. Their ceremony was personal and sentimental with a walk down the aisle from all of their nieces and nephews, a special moment for their siblings, and nods to past relatives through a beautiful piece of writing.
These two are just as special as the day the planned. As Mark’s brother said, they’re best friends. And that’s the very best way to start a marriage. Congratulations to Shannon and Mark. We’re thrilled for you both!

PS: HUGE thanks to Jackie from the Zoo for not only helping to make Shannon and Mark’s day amazing, but also for the enormous amount of help she gave to us.

Tara and Marcus made a trip home to Indy to grace me with their smiling faces and Tara’s amazing laugh for a day of engagement pictures at the IMA. Despite the dark grey skies and threat of rain, we pulled out a great session of photos while chatting about their lives in Atlanta and wedding plans. Tara and Marcus’ wedding is one I can hardly wait for. I know it will be a beautiful party and we’re thrilled to be a part of it.

Thanks to Tara and Marcus for the great day. Enjoy your pictures!

PS: Bridal Party- I’ve already been told that you guys are awesome. So you better live up to it. 🙂

I’m really proud to be a part of a group of wedding professionals who are, in my opinion, the best of the best. We provide photography, invitations, planning, catering, baking, florals, and beauty and together we call ourselves Indy Soiree. We’re a unique crew because we remain individual companies but love working together to create events that define and excite Indy couples.
Over the past few months, the Indy Soiree gals and I have fallen in love with Mustard Seed Gardens. This stunning venue is absolutely one of a kind. With a barn perfect for receptions and outdoor ceremony space, a place like this is hard to find. We really wanted to show off it’s unique and versatile nature and what better way to do that than with pictures!
So we put our planning caps on, used each of our individual strengths, and did just that.
Together we created two themes. The first was a chic outdoor affair with crystal and floral centerpieces, a gourmet BBQ buffet, cake display with a delicately draped cake as the focus, and a champagne station that doubles as an escort card table.
Inside we put together a more rustic set-up that would tend to the vintage loving bride. We set the table with vintage chairs and benches, a burlap runner, an array of florals, and gold details. Staying within the rustic theme we included vintage post-dinner stations including a dessert buffet topped upon barrels, a mug and tea favor station, and a popcorn and soda table.
I loved every part of yesterday. It was so fun to work with my friends and see them in their elements. And of course, I loved photographing all of their beautiful details and ideas.
Big thanks to Mustard Seed Gardens for letting us use their space, Bella Bridesmaid, for the beautiful gowns and accessories and for being so helpful during the shoot, and Megan from Mustard Seed for being a wonderful model.
And of course, one million thanks to the amazing Indy Soiree gals: Boldly Chic EventsInterprintationsLa Dolce SalonDesign GroupCake Zen, and A Cut Above Catering. You guys are some real talents!
Enjoy this (very long) sneak peek of our day!
PS: Want to see Mustard Seed Gardens for yourself? Come join us on May 3rd for a Night at the Barn. All of us at Indy Soiree will be there creating unique, self-service inspiration and DIY booths, cocktails, food and sweets, music, a lipstick lounge, some shopping, and more. This event will fill up so register here.
